Number 3 – Course architect, Dan Soutar 1925. Another outstanding Melbourne sandbelt course Kingston Heath has been designed with a number of memorable holes that should live long in the memory. The overall site and vegetation have given rise to some huge bunkers and the way they have been concieved they look like they were always there and have been fitted into the landscape. Although the bunkers are the main feature of the course the rough is also something to behold. You will find a mixture of mature trees, tufty grass, shrubbery and tangled low level trees. It may sound strange but it is a joy to play where if you strayed from the fairway, you had no idea what you would find, that is if you found you are lucky enough to find your ball! Kingston Heath is one of the smallest courses around with such a elevated global standing with Soutar somehow squeezing a great golf course into only 125 acres! Kingston Heath has hosted the Australian Open seven times in the past century with the last staging of the event being in 2000. (Ranked 15th best Golf Course in the World outside the USA by Golf Digest magazine in 2007).
On 12 – 15 November 2009 the Australian Masters Tournament would be played at Kingston Heath Golf Club and will host world number 1 Tiger Woods.
