Number 72 – Designed by Vern Morcom (1948). Located in the heart of Melbourne’s sandbelt area, Spring Valley has been designed by Vern Morcom the son of Mick, the famous constructor who put all of Alister Mackenzie’s design into play in Royal Melbourne. Spring Valley due to its flattish nature is comparable with Kingston Heath which is situated just down the road. Morcom crafted some of his finest bunkers and greens here with Ben Crenshaw an admirer of Morcom’s work at Spring Valley and made a special trip to see the course and to study his work. The holes demand well shaped shots from the tees and any iron shots to the flags must be played with precision.
