Gulf Harbour was opened in 1997 just prior to hosting the World Cup of Golf in 1998. The layout was designed by renowned course architect Robert Trent Jones Jnr and if you like any of his Australian portfolio of courses (including Joondalup, Meadow Springs or Hyatt Coolum and the Old course at the National and also Cape Kidnappers in NZ) you will love this one. The course covers rolling terrain on the outward holes and is good with out being inspiring but the course becomes far more dramatic on the the back nine, and from my expereince the back nine is what makes this course worthwhile playing. Best hole is the 16th with the large cliffs dropping into the sea on the right ready to devour any errant shots. Pray you dont slice!
