Holes: 18
Length: 6526m
Designed by John Darby and Sir Bob Charles. Clearwater is currently the host of the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship which is co-sanctioned event on both the Nationwide and Australian tours. Wind and water are the two overriding influences at Clearwater with you being very lucky if you dont have your score influenced at least once during your round especially as the prevailing winds pick up later on, on most days. Also because of the course’s links type layout and lack of trees, there is no where to hide from any wind during your round. The back nine is the more testing of the two and you certainly wont be able to realx with the 16th, 17th and 18th being especially brutal on your scorecard if you are off your game, with water in play on all three holes.
Clearwater has been awarded the hardest rating of any course in the country by the New Zealand GA. At 76.8 off the black /championship tees, it ranks as the toughest in the country.
